Sustainability Intern - Green Labs (summer semester)

The Sustainability Unit is now seeking talented students who are interested in developing a sustainable campus to join our team. Duties will include:

  • Help facilitate and support the work of the HKUST Green Labs working group
  • Conduct research and literature reviews on best practices at labs at other campuses and research facilities, with a special focus on opportunities for sustainable lab practices that could benefit HKUST
  • Conduct on-site evaluations, walk-throughs, and interviews with lab staff and technicians to better understand HKUST lab practices.
  • Assist in the implementation of green labs recommendations.



  • Any UG or PG student of HKUST.  
  • Able to communicate ideas effectively in written and verbal English and Chinese.
  • Experience in laboratory settings and knowledge of lab practices
  • Responsible, dependable, and good organization and time management skills.  
  • Interest in learning more about sustainability and how sustainability principles contribute to smart and creative management. Knowledge of sustainability or behavior change research is an advantage, but not required.


* The employment period is from 30 May to 31 August 2016. Interns are expected to work full time during their terms. Salary is $50/hour plus MPF.
